Vin de Mia Trix Announce Their Third Full-Length. Single Premiere

One of the longest-running Ukrainian doom metal bands presents the new single from their upcoming full-length album exclusively on Neformat today.

In just a few days, Vin de Mia Trix return with a new epic This Landscape Is Alive. The Kyiv band’s third full-length release arrives eight years after their album PALIMPSESTS, which, notably, made it into Neformat’s Top 50 Ukrainian Albums of the Decade. It’s also worth mentioning their 2022 EP Waves~Stars, released after the full-scale invasion.

The new album promises to elevate the progressive elements of its predecessor to a new level while remaining firmly rooted in bleak and atmospheric funeral/death-doom. The lyrics, meanwhile, offer poetic and philosophical reflections on the turbulent coexistence of humans and landscape. Today’s single, The Ferrissian Void, partly inspired by Rem Koolhaas’s radical architectural visions, delves into the (anti-)utopian architectural projects of the early 20th century—extravagantly ambitious designs that at the same time completely disregard the natural environment.

"The title ‘Ferrissian Void’ comes from the name of American architect and illustrator Hugh Ferriss, and the phrase itself was used by Rem Koolhaas in his book Delirious New York. The book poetically portrays the birth of the skyscraper as a utopian idea of a future world that never materialised. The musical extremity and eclecticism of this track are meant to evoke the gothic Art Deco skyscrapers from Ferriss’s drawings, which, among other things, inspired Gotham City in DC comics," the band says.

The chaotic guitar solo on “Ferrissian Void” was performed by the band’s longtime friend S.G. Blacksilver of Suffer Yourself.

The album will be released on December 5th via Robustfellow and will be available digitally as well as in an exclusive cassette edition.

Vin de Mia Trix are a Kyiv-based doom metal band founded in 2007, with their current lineup established in 2009. Their music combines doom metal with elements of many other genres. Their discography includes a demo, two EPs, a split, and two full-length albums.

For many years, the band has remained one of the pillars of the Kyiv scene, actively developing it as the organizers of Doom Over Kyiv, one of the key events in Ukrainian heavy music. Although Vin de Mia Trix don’t perform live often, over the years they have shared the stage with such genre legends as Saturnus, Pantheist, October Tide, Mourning Beloveth, Swallow the Sun, Mournful Congregation, and Green Carnation.
