Weekly Digest 2-8 August

Today we’ll be pleased with a new album from NAS, a LP by Lingua Ignota that will give you shivers, a debut EP of the new band by Suffokate´s vocalist – Ov Sulfur, as well as with melancholic doom death metal, britpop, grit pop, emo, classic stoner rock and outright Satanism – and all these in our Weekly Digest!

Antihaelix – DEMO MMXXI

Despite the fact that Antihaelix band comes from sunny Philadelphia, they play the really cold Norwegian-like black metal. The bold three-song demo will appeal to fans of the groove in black metal in the style of Mayhem and Darkthrone.

Apathy Noir – At The Edge of The World

Melancholic and melodic Swedish death doom. Seven songs of sorrow and solitude in which the mystery and grandeur of the sea serve as a background and source of inspiration. Beautiful sad music.

Feet – Walking Machine

The Londoners Feet are another representatives of the Britpop new wave. Catchy guitar melodies, full on British style, a little post-punk, a little love for Frank Zappa, clever lyrics. Nice EP.

Foxing – Draw Down The Moon

Only this week, thanks to playlist by Seth from Kiteflighter, I first heard this indie emo band from St. Louis for my telegram channel ‘Spinach Hits’, and while seeking releases for the digest I suddenly got to know they just dropped a new release! How funny is the Universe, right? Right, cause on this record they tackle that exact subject: The Universe. More specifically, "it’s about the idea of your cosmic significance,” explains frontman Conor Murphy. “The way you feel like a tiny speck in the grand scheme of the universe, that’s a feeling everybody has. You can get lost thinking about how small you are. 'Draw Down The Moon' explores how our connections to people and places and ideas are what binds us to the universe and reality”.

Nas – King Disease II

Sequel to the last year's album "King Disease" from a hip-hop legend. Let me remind you that the predecessor of this release was well received by critics and fans and won a Grammy, let's see if "King Disease II" will raise the bar as ‘Terminator 2’ or will remain indistinct as ‘Basic Instinct 2’. The album also features performances from Ms. Lauryn Hill, Eminem and EPMD, Charlie Wilson, Hit-Boy, and others.

Ov Sulfur – Oblivion EP

Remember such a very popular and solid deathcore band Suffokate, the one with the vocalist who had huge ear plugs? So, for a while this vocalist, Ricky Hoover, put the music aside, pumped up his muscles, sewed up his ears, got some face tattoos and worked as a barber in Las Vegas, but he couldn't do it without music forever. Ov Sulfur is a blackened deathcore, sometimes with the orchestral inserts, and here is their debut EP of 6 tracks, also featuring performance by As I Lay Dying vocalist.

Vassago – Storm оf Satan

"Storm Of Satan" is the second full-length from Swedish black death metal band Vassago. Vassago approaches black and death metal from a maleficent angle. With biting, vicious intensity that calls to mind fellow northern gods Impaled Nazarene or Nifelheim, Vassago offers a full-scale attack of warlike sound and a penchant for the disgust and evil. FYI, they namecheck Satan in every song title!
